​Membership of Freedom Fields is open to individuals who support our mission of creating safe, private, affordable dog exercise spaces in the Wellington region. By becoming a member, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

Our Purpose
Freedom Fields exists to:

• Promote safe and accessible private dog exercise spaces.
• Support responsible dog ownership.
• Encourage positive dog training and socialisation.
• Build partnerships with landowners, trainers, volunteers, and the wider community.

Membership Expectations
Members agree to:

• Treat all members, volunteers, landowners, trainers and partners with respect.
• Promote responsible and humane dog ownership.
• Follow any rules applying to hired exercise spaces.
• Keep membership details accurate and up to date.
• Comply with all applicable laws and local bylaws.

Dog Welfare
Members using Freedom Fields facilities agree that:

• Dogs must be under effective control at all times.
• Dogs must not be brought to a hired space if they are unwell or have a contagious illness.
• Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs.
• Owners remain responsible for the behaviour and welfare of their dogs at all times.

Membership Fees
Where applicable:

• The annual membership fee is set by Freedom Fields.
• Annual fees are $20
• Fees may change from time to time.
• Unless required by law, membership fees are non-refundable.
• OR: The membership fee is a one-off, non-refundable fee.

Volunteers
Members who volunteer do so voluntarily and understand that participation is at their own risk. Freedom Fields will take reasonable steps to provide a safe environment for volunteers.

Limitation of Liability
While Freedom Fields aims to provide safe, well-managed exercise spaces, members acknowledge that activities involving dogs carry inherent risks.

To the extent permitted by New Zealand law, members use Freedom Fields facilities and participate in Freedom Fields activities at their own risk. Owners remain responsible for their dogs and any damage or injury caused by them.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights that cannot legally be excluded under New Zealand law.

Suspension or Termination
Freedom Fields may suspend or cancel membership where a member:

• seriously breaches these Terms;
• behaves in a way that endangers people or animals;
• damages Freedom Fields property or facilities; or
• acts in a manner likely to harm Freedom Fields or its members.

Where practical, members will be given an opportunity to respond before membership is terminated.

If you wish to cancel your membership for any reason, please contact us to request we delete your information from our records.
 
Changes to these Terms
Freedom Fields may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on our website.
 
Privacy Statement
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information.
We may collect:

• your name;
• contact details (email, phone number and address if provided);
• membership information;
• volunteer interests;
• donation history;
• communications with us; and
• any other information you choose to provide.

We use your information to:

• administer memberships;
• communicate with members;
• organise events and volunteers;
• manage donations;
• improve our services; and
• meet our legal obligations.

Sharing information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information with trusted service providers who help us operate our membership systems or process payments. We may also disclose information where required by law.

Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorised access.

Access and correction
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate.

Communications
Members may receive emails about news, events, projects and opportunities. You can unsubscribe from general communications at any time, although we may still contact you regarding your membership.

Booking Terms & Conditions for hiring dog exercise spaces.

• membership of Freedom Fields
• maximum three dogs unless by prior agreement (to minimise noise)
• booking rules – park entrance and exit –bring water for your dog - bring your own poo bags - pick up poo and place in the bin provided – leave the park as you found it – contact us if you encounter any safety issue at the park (e.g. a compromised fence)
• cancellations – non-refundable unless made one week in advance
• dog vaccinations and registration with Wellington City Council are required for all member dogs.
